Reverend Ronald Murphy Moreland, age 84, of Trenton, Georgia, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 8, 2025.
A funeral service to celebrate Reverend Moreland’s life will be held on Thursday, April 10th at the Trenton Chapel of Moore Funeral Home, with Bro. Johnny Gipson and Bro. Johnny Wooten officiating. He will be laid to rest at New Home Cemetery following the service.
Family and friends are invited to visit on Wednesday from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM, and again on Thursday from 10:00 AM until the time of the service.
Ronald was born on August 16, 1940, in Chattanooga, Tennessee, to Lloyd and Thelma Moreland. He faithfully served in ministry for over 40 years, beginning his pastoral journey on Lookout Mountain and concluding his service at Macedonia Baptist Church in New Hope, Tennessee.
A devoted Christian, Reverend Moreland had a passion for serving the Lord that was evident in his love for his family and the many church congregations he shepherded over the years. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather who lived with humility, always putting others before himself.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Wanda Sue Moreland, his sister Gay Andrews, and his brothers, Glen, Ben, and Donald Moreland.
He is survived by his children: Donna Lynn (David) Brown, Jennifer (David) Davis, Tildon Hoyt Moreland, Derrick Murphy Moreland, and Christopher (Dora Lee) Branch; along with nine grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and a cherished extended church family from throughout his years in ministry.
Reverend Moreland leaves behind a legacy of faith, love, and steadfast devotion. He will be deeply missed by all who had the blessing of knowing him.
