Robert Wayne “Smokey” Russell, 86, of Trenton, GA, passed away on Saturday, September 20, 2025 at his home.
Smokey was born on April 1, 1939 to the late Robert Lewis & Idell Samples Russell in Valley Head, AL and was a 1957 graduate of Dade County High School and attended the Trenton Methodist Church. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, retired from Dixie Savings Stores with more than 34 years of service, and served Ryan Funeral Home for many years. He was also the owner of Smokey’s Storage in Trenton for many years and was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Sullivan Russell in 2020.
Survivors include his sisters, Louise O’Rear & Faye (Shane) Willey; grandchildren, Maddie (Tyler) Hughes; great-granddaughter, Hazel Grey; grandson, Christian (Lindsey) Smith; a host of nieces and nephews are also left to cherish his memory.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, September 24th at 1:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Wayne Moody & Rev. Ed Salter officiating. Interment will follow in Lake Hills Memorial Gardens with full military honors being presented by American Legion Post #106. Online condolences may be shared at ryanfuneralhome.net.
