It’s a new year and with it comes new beginnings. This rings true for the Dade County Commission who had their first County Commission Meeting of the year tonight, January 2, 2025, with 3 newly appointed commissioners, and one of those being the County Executive, Don Townsend. Other exciting things that happened this evening besides it being the first County Commission Meeting of the year is that several people present received some special nominations. General/Commissioner Bob Woods was appointed as Vice-Chair at the monthly County Commission Meeting that was held on January 2, 2025, by a unanimous vote of the commission.Also, during the meeting the Commission collectively discussed newly-elected County Executive Don Townsend’s suggestion for County Clerk, Gidget Knight. Each sitting commissioner had nothing, but stellar comments about not only Giget’s work ethic, but her as a person as well. Gidget was then voted in as County Clerk for Dade County unanimously by the commissioners.Lastly, Commissioner Bradford stepped forward nominating herself to become the County Legislative Coordinator for the commission. She was unanimously voted in by the commission.
