Norma Jean Black Nix, age 91, of Ider, AL passed away, Thursday, July 17, 2025 at her residence surrounded by family. Funeral services will be held Sunday, July 20, 2025 at 12:00 PM CT at Corner Stone Funeral Chapel with Bro. Floyd Williams and Bro. Bradley Wooten officiating. Burial will follow in Old Sardis Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Corner Stone Funeral Chapel on Saturday, July 19, from 2:00 – 8:00 PM CT and on Sunday from 10:00 AM CT until service time at 12:00 PM CT.
Jean was born January 26, 1934 to Walter and Rhoda Stiefel Black. She was of the Free Holiness faith having received the Holy Ghost at the age of 13. She married the love of her life, William Harold Nix, in October of 1950 and they spent 50 years together before his passing in 2001.
She was preceded in death by her parents; Emma Black, her second mother who raised her from an early age after her mom passed at an early age; granddaughter, Cassie Inman; daughters-in-law, LeJo Nix and Wyndi Nix; sisters, Juanita Montanos, Elwanda Mashburn, and Nell Lands; brothers, Earl, Willis, Linzie, Jessie, Hershel, Wendell, and Kenneth Black and Thomas Smothers.
She is survived by daughters, Dianne (Benny) Inman, Denise (Jamie) Millard; sons, Wayne Nix, Ronald (Tania) Nix, Donald Nix; grandchildren, Adam Nix, Brittany Nix, Nicholas (Brooke) Nix, Eric (Molly) Nix, Erica (Doug) Reid, Gabriel (Meagan) Nix, Gregory (Shae) Nix, Victoria (Ryan) Griffith, Ashlen (Bryce) West, Hope (Matt) Langley, Aly Christian; great-grandchildren, Michael, Gage, Zander, and Caleb Nix, Harley and Caroline Nix, Nixon and Ronan Reid, Bryson Nix, Jacob, Riley, and Tucker Nix, Evelyn Nix, Molly, Max, and Wells Griffith, Creek and Ridge Langley, Ellison West, Spurrlie Sherrill; sister, Shirley Cloud; brother, Mark Black; sister-in-law, Marie Black.
Honored to serve as pallbearers will be Gabriel, Nicholas, Gregory, and Eric Nix, Bryce West, and Matt Langley.
The family would like to especially thank Southern Care New Beacon Hospice and their wonderful staff and her personal caregiver and friend, Donna Williams, who all took amazing care of her as her health declined.
