Nelson Ray Neighbors age 85 of Sylvania, AL died Thursday, January 15, 2026 at Tutt Fan Nursing Home. Funeral services are Sunday, January 18, 2026 at 2 PM CT at Corner Stone Funeral Chapel. Burial will follow in Trinity Cemetery. Visitation is for 12 Noon until service time on Sunday.
Ray was born August 16, 1940 in Fort Payne, AL to parents, Floyd Raymond and Myrtle Evona Lanier Neighbors. He was a 1958 graduate of Dekalb County High School and enlisted in the US Navy upon graduation. He had worked construction as a sheet rock finisher before retiring. He was a member of Grace Baptist Church and enjoyed spending time with his church family and friends.
Survivors include his cousin, M Jean Craig, bonus son, Don Crips, along with a host of friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, grandmother, Daisy “Granny” Neighbors and wife, Connie Neighbors.
