Melva Gilbreath

Forever in our hearts, Melva Jean Gilbreath was born on October 5, 1930, and passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by family on January 31, 2026, at the age of 95. She was a longtime resident of Trenton, Georgia.

Melva was a faithful member of White Oak Baptist Church in Trenton, Georgia, where she served as a Sunday School teacher for many years. Her greatest joy in life came from spending time with her family. She was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil Gilbreath; her parents, Milton and Mary Crawford; and her sister, Geraldine Dodson.

Her children, Gary Gilbreath (Billy), Diane Konrad (Larry), and Paula Stallings (Ronny), survive her. Melva was also blessed with 11 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.

Melva will always be remembered as a mother who embodied Proverbs 31, as her life was a true testament to the strength and beauty of a mother’s devotion. She was a caring, gracious, and compassionate woman whose life reflected the real meaning of loving others more than oneself, consistently caring for others through every season of her life. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Tapestry Hospice nurse, Felicia Bethune, for making our mother feel so special during her final moments.

A funeral service to celebrate Melva’s life will be held on Wednesday, February 4, at 3:00 PM Eastern Time (2:00 PM Central) at the Bryant Chapel of Moore Funeral Home. Brother Terry Trivette will officiate. Melva will be laid to rest at Oak Lawn Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday from 12:00 PM until the hour of service.

Melva’s life was one of faith, family, and quiet strength. She leaves behind a legacy of love that will continue to live on through the generations she nurtured, the lives she touched, and the example she set for all who knew her. Though she will be deeply missed, her family finds comfort in knowing her love and influence will endure forever.
