Herbert Lee Pace, aged 87, of Bryant, Alabama, passed away at his home on March 16, 2026. Born on October 16, 1938, to the late William and Thelma Walls Pace, Herbert lived a life marked by dedication to family, faith, and community.
Herbert honorably served in the United States Army, achieving the rank of E5, reflecting both his commitment and discipline. Following his military service, he went on to build a respected career as a Revenue Officer with the Internal Revenue Service, where he served with integrity and diligence for many years. Deeply devoted to his faith, he was a longstanding member of Ebenezer Baptist Church in Bryant, Alabama. His service extended beyond the church through 35 years as Scoutmaster of Boy Scouts of America, Troop #23, where he inspired and guided many young lives.
A passionate gardener, Herbert took great joy in tending to his beloved dahlias, proudly participating as a member of the Tennessee Dahlia Society. Those who knew him remember his love for the outdoors and the care with which he nurtured his garden.
Herbert was a loving husband of 58 years to Connie Pace, a devoted father to sons Jeff (Rachel) Pace and Bryan (Karen) Pace, and a cherished grandfather to Brently (Athena) Pace, Brayden Pace, and Leah Pace. He is also lovingly remembered by his nieces Christie Ballard and Wanda Blake, nephew Barry Pace, and many extended family members and friends.
A celebration of Herbert’s life will be held on Thursday, March 19, 2026, at 3:00 PM ET at Ebenezer Baptist Church in Bryant, Alabama, with Brother Gene McCoy officiating. Military Honors will be rendered during the service. Friends may visit with the family at the church on the same day from 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM ET. Following the service, Herbert will be entombed at Ebenezer Baptist Cemetery.
