Betty Ruth Townson Cloud, lovingly known as “Momsie”, of Higdon, AL, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, February 16, 2026. She was 79 years old.
A funeral service to celebrate Betty’s life will be held on Thursday, February 19th, at 3:00 PM Eastern Time (2:00 Central) at the Bryant Chapel of Moore Funeral Home. Brother Steve Townson and Brother Scott Gudger will officiate the service. She will be laid to rest at Oak Lawn Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday from 5:00 to 8:00 PM Eastern Time and on Thursday from 1:00 PM until the service hour.
Born on October 27, 1946, Betty was the daughter of the late Guy and Virgie Mayo Townson. She grew up in a large, close-knit family that shaped her strong values of faith, compassion, and devotion to others. She loved being outdoors, mowing the grass, tending to her gardens, or simply sitting on the porch. Her door was always open, whether to watch her grass grow or to welcome any visitor who might stop by.
Her greatest joy was her family, and she was always ready to drop everything to help with a project or proudly attend as a spectator at an event. A dedicated member of Mount Olive Baptist Church in Higdon, Betty was always willing to lend a hand wherever it was needed. Her devotion to family, love of nature, and compassion for others will remain in the hearts and minds of all who knew her.
Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Kim (Johnny) Randolph; son, Germi (Lashon) Cloud; grandchildren, Naketa Randolph, Japeth (Allison) Randolph, Brandon Cloud, Hannah Cloud, and Alex Cloud; her siblings, Mavis Kennemore and Jerry (Vicky) Townson; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Leon (Pat) Cloud, Rayburn Cloud, Shirley Cloud, and Ellon (Jerry) Cook; and a host of extended family, friends, and loved ones.
In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Royce Cloud; her siblings, Kenneth (Martilla) Townson, Elva Townson, Freeman (Betty) Townson, Royce Ray (Ruth) Townson, Jimmie Townson, Lottie (Charles) Douglas, Reba (Lee) Manson, and Judy (Tim) Knight.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Adoration Home Health, as well as the many friends and family members who offered their love, support, and care during this time.
