
Follow-up: According to the Dade County Sheriff’s Office (DCSO) Facebook press release, Richard Sweatt, 46, of Trenton, has been positively identified as the deceased man whose corpse was found and later removed from a pond on New Home Road.
According to the DCSO, Sweatt had been extensively sought after for a number of felonies, including a bench warrant for failure to appear and cruelty to animals.
Additionally, he was first charged with three counts of child molestation, two acts of cruelty to children, aggravated sexual battery, and aggravated child molestation, all of which were linked to his bench warrant.The DCSO stated that they have asked the US Marshal Service for help in finding Sweatt. They said that the US Marshals had been to town yesterday to help find him, but they were told their services would no longer be required after Sweatt’s body was found.
Additionally, the DCSO indicated that Sweatt’s cause of death is still under investigation, they pointed out that “there were no obvious external signs of injury at the time of recovery.”
With the words “our condolences to the family of the deceased,” the DCSO concluded their news release expressing their sympathies to Sweatt’s family.
