Frances Ellen Ott Graves age 81 of Henagar, AL passed away on Wednesday, May 7, 2025 at Erlanger Medical Center. Funeral services are Saturday, May 10, 2025 at 2 PM CT at Corner Stone Funeral Chapel with Dr. David Sexton officiating. Burial will follow in Mountain Home Cemetery. Family will receive friends from 3 to 8 PM CT on Friday and 12 Noon until service time.
Frances was a 1961 graduate of Ider High School and a member of Ider Methodist Church. She was an accomplished singer, pianist and music writer. Many of her songs were published in several different song books. Frances, along with husband James, supported southern gospel singings and the Alabama School of Southern Gospel Music. She taught and encouraged many young people in their study of music and using their talents in their churches.
Frances was a member of Pisgah Chapter 406 OES and was a Past Matron of Mahan and Ider Chapters OES. She served as Grand Organist of the Grand Chapter Alabama OES in 2007 thru 2008.
Frances is survived by her husband of almost 64 years, James Graves of Henagar; daughters, Deborah Gann of Soddy Daisy, TN., and Sheila Graves Cassady Ferguson and husband, Rusty of Madison, AL; grandchildren, James Gann and wife Meagan, Jessica Gann, Danielle Cassady Kolotka and husband, Paul and Lauren Cassady; great-granddaughter, Charlotte Kolotka, sister-in-laws, Irene Howington, Sharon Tripp and Jewel Graves. She was preceded in death by her parents William P’ “Bill” and Dorothy Ott, son-in-laws, David Gann and Daniel Cassady.
