Joyce Austin Pannell age 76 of Ider died Tuesday, April 29, 2025 at her residence. A Catholic Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, May 1, 2025 at 1 PM ET at Saint Katharine Drexel Catholic Church, located at 140 New England Road, Trenton, GA 30757. Family will receive friends on Wednesday from 4 to 8 PM CT at Corner Stone Funeral Chapel and again on Thursday from 11 AM until 1 PM ET at the church. Burial will follow at Smith-Pannell Cemetery in Ider, AL.
Joyce was born June 3, 1948 in Trenton, GA., to parents, Walter Guy and Mildred “Bill” Smith Austin. She was a 1966 graduate of Ider High School and worked for the Federal Government for 30 years with the last 21 being the USDA. She loved her family and friends and enjoyed spending time with them.
Survivors include her husband of 53 years, Ronald Lowell Pannell, children, Ron Pannell, Maria Kilgro(Tom), Joseph Pannell, grandchildren, Logan Pannell(Dani), Zach Kilgro(Anna), Trevor Pannell(Audrey), Shelby Potter(David), Novaleigh Swafford, Jason Kilgro, Adam Kilgro, great-grandchildren, Carley Rose Potter, Layla Potter, Collen Pannell, siblings, Mary Jane Epperson(Dave), Barry Austin(Charlotte), Joan Thompson, along with several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Jim Harris and sister, Rose Carol Mockenhaupt.
