Nellie Gertrude Powell Wells age 89 of Flat Rock, AL. died Wednesday, October 15, 2025 at Chattanooga Hospice Care Center. Funeral services are Saturday, October 18, 2025 at 12 Noon CT at Corner Stone Funeral Chapel with Bro. Donavan Whited and Bro. Gregg Steele officiating. Burial will follow in Kennemer Cemetery with Eastern Star services. Family will receive friends from 3 to 7 PM CT on Friday and 10 AM until service time on Saturday.
Gerturde was born February 15, 1936 in Flat Rock, AL to parents, William Upton and Hester Mae Shrader Powell. She was a 1953 graduate of Pisgah High School and had worked at both Peerless Woolen Mills and 3M Ceramic Division. She was a member of Kennemer Baptist Church and and had served as Church Treasure since 1961. She was a member of the NSM Eastern Star.
Survivors include son, Jerry Wells(Cynthia), sisters, Ruby Lee Gray, Marie Simpson, grandchildren, Angie Patton(Steve), Brandon Whitley(Jennifer), Clay Whitley, along with several great-grandchildren, She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Raymond Wells, daughter, Tammy Renee Wells, brothers, Bruce Powell and William Powell Jr.
