Pauline “Polly” Smothers age 83 of Fort Payne, AL(Shaves Community), died Saturday, July 26, 2025 at Huntsville Hospital. Funeral services are Monday, July 28, 2025 at 4 PM CT at Corner Stone Funeral Chapel with Bro. Harold Mitchell, Bro. Charles Underwood and Bro. Mark Smothers officiating. Burial will follow in Liberty Cemetery. Family will receive friends Sunday from 2 to 8 PM and Monday from 12 Noon until service time.
Polly was born October 1, 1941 in Dekalb County, AL to parents, William Mobile and Lola Shankles Childers. She was a member of Lee’s Chapel Baptist Church and had worked several years as a machine operator at Shugart and Sons Hosiery Mill.
Survivors include children, Wayne Smothers(Phyllis), Kenny Smothers(Lisa Puckett), Phyllis Morgan(Keith), Mark Smothers(Charlene), grandchildren, Dustin Foote, Kyle Smothers, Hannah Patterson(Kalwin), Sarah Grizzard(Wesley), Will Smothers, Noah Smothers, Jennifer Morgan, Cody Morgan(Naomi), great-grandchildren, Brayden Smothers, Jorja Foote, Max Smothers, Mylah Patterson, Ellis Patterson, Emellia Morgan and baby due in October, Bryce Grizzard.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Orren Smothers, sons, Charles Smothers, Rickey Smothers, great-grandson, Collier Foote, sisters, Jewel Whitehurst, Juanita Galloway, brothers, Willie Childers, and J R. Childers.
