Veneta Gail Whisenant Wootten, age 80, of Flat Rock, AL., passed away on December 7, 2025. Funeral services are Wednesday, December 10, 2025 at 1 PM CT at Antioch Baptist Church with Bro. Jeffrey Wootten and Bro. Tony Ivey officiating. Burial will follow in the adjoining cemetery. Family will receive friends from 4 to 8 PM Tuesday and 11 am to 12:30 PM Wednesday at Corner Stone Funeral Chapel.
Veneta was born August 26, 1945 in Dade County, GA., to parents, Grady B. and Mary Jo Waller Whisenant. She was a 1963 graduate of Davis High School and had worked as a bookkeeper with her husband in their machine shop business. She was a devoted pastor’s wife, deeply committed to her family, her church, and her faith. She was also a wonderful cook, bringing people together with her meals and warm hospitality.
Survivors include her daughters, Susan (Stacey) Plicher of Flat Rock, AL and Jennifer (Michael) Lindsey of Goodlettsville, TN.; grandsons, Christopher Davis, Justin Pilcher, Jacob (Christy) Pilcher, Tristan Lindsey, and Hunter Lindsey; siblings, Geneda (Wayne) Schaefer of New Market, AL., Ronnie (Lily) Whisenant of Robbinsville, NC., Grady Whisenantof Decatur, IL, Joan Spurgeon of Trenton, GA., and Danny (Judith) Whisenant of Chattanooga, TM; and several nieces, nephews and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Elder Phillip Morris Wootten, a son, Mitchell Morris Wootten; and her parents.
