Virginia LaVaughn Steele Blaylock, 76, of Trenton, GA, passed away on Wednesday, February 4, 2025 in a local health care facility.
Virginia was born on October 19, 1949 in Rising Fawn, GA to the late Willard & Charlsie Steele and was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. Following her military service, she was employed as a working mother, often with three jobs while pursuing her associates degree. Some of her employers include Parkridge Hospital, Miller & Martin Law Firm, Bull Moose Tube Company, and the U.S. Postal Service as a data clerk. Virginia worked hard all of her life and struggled with her health in later years, whether by shame or pride, she faced her illness on her terms. She was a hard woman with a quick temper but was full of love for her family & her God. She will be missed. In addition to her parents, Virginia was preceded in death by her brother, Dale W. Steele.
Survivors include her son, Arnold Blaylock of Trenton, GA; daughter, Sheri Berger, Louisville, NE; brothers, Nelson & Louis Steele; sisters, Martha Layman & Delilah Walden; many nieces, nephews & cousins are also left to cherish her memory.
Graveside services with full military honors will be held on Monday, February 9, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. at the Chattanooga National Cemetery. There will be no visitation at the funeral home. Online condolences may be shared at ryanfuneralhome.net.
