Willie Wynell Fleming age 81 of Athens, Alabama passed away peacefully on July 17, 2025. Funeral services are Sunday, July 20, 2025 at 5 PM CT at Corner Stone Funeral Chapel with Bro. Jim Hixon officiating. Burial will follow in Mountain View Memory Gardens. Family will receive friends from 3 PM until service time.
Wynell was born September 3, 1943 in Henagar, Alabama to parents, Archie Willie and Lorene Yates Fleming. He was a 1961 graduate of Pisgah High School and a Veteran having served in the US Army. His life was marked by quiet strength, unwavering loyalty, and a deep love for his family. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Norene Webster and brother, Vernon Fleming.
Survivors include wife, Ginny Hammonds Fleming, children, Christy Fleming, Becky Fleming, Staci Shankles(Gerald) and Scott Ridgeway. He leaves behind a legacy of love in his grandchildren: Nicholas Waldrop(Amanda), Jade Sutphin, Austin Ferguson, Harley Winsett(Cody), Cole Johnson, Carli Johnson, Carter Ridgeway(Taylie), Hallie Ridgeway, Brett Shankles, Colby Shankles(Savannah) along with eight great-grandchildren. He is also survived by sisters, Ellen Richardson, Janette York, Charlotte McClain and Glenda Barnes.
