One Dade County citizen has taken matters into his own hands and begun a recall against the county’s current County Executive, Don Townsend. Coy Williams, Jr., the owner of McBride’s Bookstore, and known throughout by his stage name, Bubba Que has filed a petition to recall our county executive because, according to Mr. Williams Jr., “they don’t care what the citizens want as long as the rich get richer and the poor get poorer! This “man” wants to steal $3 million from us.”

The Trenton Daily News spoke in person with Mr. Williams, Jr., today, where they verified that he had indeed gotten certified recall paperwork regarding County Executive Townsend today, Thursday, August 21, 2025, and he has already begun getting signatures from registered voters in Dade County.
We asked him why recalling the county executive is important to him, with his answer being, “I think it’s important because elected officials need to remember why and who they are elected for and who pays their salaries.”
Mr. Williams, Jr., then explained that he needs to garner at minimum 100 signatures from registered Dade County voters on this recall paperwork against the county executive and that he must do so in 15 days. He added that personnel at the elections office indicated it would be better to get at least 130 signatures because they do have to be verified as legitimate registered voters. He indicated the more signatures over the 100 mark, the better it will be.
Mr. Williams, Jr., shared the days he would be available at McBride’s Bookstore for those wanting to stop by and sign the recall paperwork on the following dates and times:
Monday – Friday, from 9 am to 6 pm;Saturday, from 1 pm to 6 pm;
After Mr. Williams, Jr., turns in the completed recall paperwork with the needed amount of signatures required to the elections superintendent it can take up-to 5 business days in excluding any holiday(s) to “certify the legal sufficiency after receiving the application; if additional time is needed by the elections superintendent then, the judge of the superior court may, upon proper application and good cause shown, grant an additional period of time not to exceed 15 days for the election superintendent to verify the application.(Georgia Code Title 21. Elections § 21-4-5)”
Following the Georgia recall protocol(s) the election superintendent will then notify County Executive Don Townsend in writing that a recall application has been completed and filed with them for verification.
